What Do You Think?

Posted this earlier under the JD thread, but no bites....

Need some input :

K guys:

Here is a question.

I have the grass hoppers/baskets for my Craftsman. Seems a waste to let them sit in the shed .

Do you think they could be modified to fit the JD :?: :idea: :?:

I would think the mounting plate in the rear would have to be modified as well as the intake for the hoppers. Probably need a JD intake and maybe a reducer probably inverted to fit the existing tubing?

What do y'all think?

Rudi, If'n you got a big enough hammer you can do anything.

Yup, gonna definitely need the high lift blades. I wonder too with all this talk about the Gator Blades for JD's if they are high lift and to they actually work :?:

Gonna have to have a look at a parts manual or something from the dealer and see what they have I guess.

BD, yup. Firm believer in a big hammer goes a long way. Sometimes though a smaller one and a little finesse works even better.... :?: :roll: :lol:

Rudi, saw a post recently about the Gator blades, they are a mulching blade but are designed so they blow the grass back down and recut it, don't think they would give that much discharge force. Poster was also disappointed in the quality of their cut. Said they would be good for mulching leaves, but to get a smooth cut he had to travel really slow. Have you looked into what JD reccomends for bagging, may be able to get a few parts from them and combine the two.

Hey Rudi...John's RIGHT...the "gator" blades won't help you at all for pickin' up grass clippings :roll: ! You might consider fabricating a seperate pull behind unit that can use your grass catcher bags, but be powered by a 3 or 5 h.p. motor (Like the old Trac-Vac units) :wink: .
