Potato Help

My potato plant were up about 12" high and we had a storm with 1 3/4" of rain, must have been a driving rain with wind (I was not home at the time) it laid almost all of the plants over, this was 2 weeks ago, will they stand up again or should I just leave them alone laying on the ground, almost all have flowered and look healthy, someone must have had this happen to them. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it. They'll recover just fine.

Yup, they should recover nicely. As long as they are flowering you should be good to go.

That is why they are called 'vines.' They will flop over like an uncaged tomato but as long as the vine is not broken it will not affect their ability to produce potatoes.

I concur with the rest. Nothing to worry about. Just makes it harder to cultivate. Don't do anything that will break the vines....Greg

plants (Yukon Gold) are looking fine and healthy, about 60 days old the vines are all over the place not standing like last years crop, pulled 2 plants today to see how they are growing, one plant one potato, 2nd plant 2 small potatoes, will have to amend the soilthis fall and next spring. last year the potatoes were small, I guess from the clay soil. Last year, hand dug the patch, this year used the cub with a potato plow/ middlebuster (thanks Boss Hog) alot easier than a ground fork and a hoe.
Had potato larve the other week no bugs yet, picked them off 2 plants, used seven powder, will see if that keeps them away.

I keep hilling my taters and that seems to help they stay upright when we get a heavy rain, but they always seem to end up onm the ground, but the potatoes are just fine
