Re: Whats it all about?
The Farmall A tractor had the 113cubic inch, 16hp engine in it, and the C had the 123 cubic inch, 21 hp engine in it. They are interchangable, so most folks use the 123 when doing a rebuild or replacement to gain a little more power.

Re: Whats it all about?
The C had 113 ci, just like an A, but it was tweaked up a few RPMs. The Super C had a larger bore (+ 1/8) for 123 ci. When the Super C came out, the Super A was changed over to the Super C version of the block but with thicker sleeves to maintain the 113 displacement. The later Super A block would accept standard Super C parts. Thin wall sleeves are available for either block, increasing the bore by 1/8 inch.
There were 500 Cs built with a larger bore, which was identified as 122 ci. I presume they were for extended field testing. I don't know if they had a modified block or used thinner sleeves.

I am told it was common in our neck of the woods to refer to an overhauled Super A with IH Firecrater pistons as having a "Super C kit" in it. I have never taken the time to see what the diameter of the old Firecrater's in my Super A were.
Grandaddy said after he did this to his (my) Super A, it could handle loads in 3rd that normally required 2nd gear.
