Hello gentleman. Thanks for the help on cleaning up the logos on my 63 Cub. Another question. Can you run 7 - 24 tires on the standard 7 -24 rims? I had the impression the early Cubs with 7 -24 tires had a narrower rim. My 8.3-24's are shot, and I was thinking of going with 7-24's.

The 7 x 24 tires were originally set on 6 inch rims, and I think would look better than set on 7 inch rims. The 8.3 x 24 were used on both 6 and 7 inch rims. They look ok on the 6 inch but better on the 7 inch.

Being new to the Cub's I was wondering what the advantage of having a narrower tire is on the cub? Is it ascetics (which I totally understand.) I am thinking of going wider figuring I would gain more stability and a bit less ground pressure but am I missing something?

I don't know if I will ever do much farming with this thing, but for cultivating (especially spuds) the narrower the tire, the less plants you damage.

Someone mentioned going with bigger tires.

We sell tires everyday, Firestone, Goodyear, Titan add about $100 dollars over the imports and still can't depend on them being made here when they arrive.

I put 12.4 x 24 tires on same rims as the old tires (9 x 24?) so they wouldn't dig in so quickly while grading. Got them free from farmer who took them off front of his big green tractor. Cost $23 each to have them installed at tire store. Filled them up with 250# water in each. Hardly ever spin, still plenty of power. Look awesome!
