Going to check out another tractor...and its home!

Postby Lt.Mike » Fri Nov 25, 2011 7:02 pm

I'm thinking about a Farmall "A". There isn't the info out there for "A"s that cubs have so I'm going to need some help here.
If you are up on the "A" series tractors please check out my other post.

Please excuse my bringing it up here on a cub thread but time is getting tight and this thread gets more traffic.
Thanks, Mike.

My dad had an A and it was a nice little tractor. It's kind of like a Cub on steroids. Overhead valve, wet sleeve engine and a 4 speed tranny, all improvements over the Cub.

I really like the cub but there are things about the "A" that are really neat like the front rims.
You know if I get it I'm going to see what interchanges with the cub.
The "A" does look beefier too.

Almost nothing. While on the subject, almost nothing interchanges between an A and Super A. A mounted equipment is hard to find compared to the Super A.

No hydraulics on a "A" either

I don't think it can be done but I'd love to find a way to use the "A"s front rims on the cub. They do look sharp!
On this particular "A" not having hydraulics is actually the way I want it, simple. The simpler the better.
I'm going to have to put a kit into my cubs TC unit as it is bleeding down under a load. I'm not wanting another project.
At least not to soon.
The most I'll do with the "A" right now is tow and haul firewood. If I do put a plow on it I'll mount a hand lift as I like the early look of it. My snow mover will be the cub.
Mike.
