quick shroud question

Postby Lt.Mike » Mon Jan 09, 2012 8:26 pm

One quick question...
Will a Farmall "B" or "C" fan shroud work for a Farmall "A"?
They seem like they are the same part.
Mike.

yup same engine C113. if its a later super C it wont fit. the radiator is taller by a couple of inches to accomodate the water pump and the C123 engine. a gap between the touch control and the fuel tank will identify the later tractors easily

Art, what do you mean that the touch control gap from the gas tank will easily identify a later model?

yup they will fit. a farmall B or BN is simply an A with different axle tubes and a narrow front end. a C used the same engine/bolster/radiator setup on a different transmission for the purpose of having adjustable axles like the H and M

on an A, the fuel tank right on top of the touch control. the Super A1 (late tractors) and the super C will have a gap between the tank and the touch control to correspond to the taller radiator. you can see air under the tank on these tractors.

Bottom section of the grille on the B and C is different than the A/Super A. The B/C grille will bolt onto a Super A, not sure about vice versa.

Don't have a book handy to look it up, but some Cs came with a water pump. Several nearby parts had to change for the pump. I don't know if the shroud changed or not.

I did some photo comparing on google and asked myself if I felt lucky. Well I figured $35 shipped was a reasonable gamble and went for it.
If you see it go back up on ebay you can assume it didn't work.
Incidentally, I don't think I mentioned that my Dad graced me with a blasting cabinet from Harbor freight for Christmas. Thanks Dad. :D
Spring will bring more than flowers.
