I agree Bob - I am curious as to why they would be mowing in January in Noble County Indiana.

The way the story reads, he was pulling a mower but it doesn't say he was using it. He may have just been moving it to another location.
I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me.

Well looking at this article, seems he was mowing brush. Serves a warning to all of us, things happen so quickly with one little lapse of attention.
Another thing interesting to me is that it happened near U.S. 6, which my road runs off of, here in Massachusetts. Rt. 6 starts at the end of Cape Cod and goes all the way to California.

An acquaintance of mine on another forum knew this fellow. He said he was an avid antique tractor fan and active in the local 4H clubs and local tractor club. It is a sad indeed.

Bob, thanks for the link to the second story. When I bought my step dad's property 20 years ago it had a heavily overgrown hillside that I planned to mow. Ed walked the property with me and showed me every stump he knew of that was out there. I marked them before I went out with the mower. I still took it slow and found a few Ed had not menetioned. No matter how experienced you are, the unseen can jump out of nowhere and get you.
