This is a Boat my Dad built in the winter of 1950, but he never finished it, it is made of double planked mahogany put together with tooth picks,
it is 36 inches long and 10 inches wide, I still have in in the living room, and I just finished a Brass Cannon I started after I seen the Model of the Lobster boat that Homstead made,
The cannon is 17 1/2 X 3 inches and is 29 lbs, The wood work on the cannon is not as good as if my Dad hade done it, he was a master Carpenter, I'm more in to metal work,
so here is some pictures.

Nicely done .. That is one nice cannon. The woodwork is pretty sharp as well. I like your Dad's boat, very nice work.

Well in1985 grandpa bower built a rocking horse out of 2x lumber and stained it a dark walnut. Needless 2 say my kids destroed. It. I broke it down into 14 pieces. Stripped it to bare wood. That's where I am at now. Its reassembled. Anotther fine sanding the stain and poly. Course build the mane and tail will be last. Thing I will add stirups

Hi John :: It sounds like your having fun on the Rocking horse, be sure to show us some pictures, This is what I have on my front porch, it's not a rocking horse,
But it looks good on the front porch, The AppleBee's Restaurant burnt Down here in Hot Springs a few years ago, And they put this in the trash,
Me being a old Navy Chief and a Good Dumpster Diver, I saved the poor old dirty Horse from the Dump. and Wife Was Happy too, It only took Her five days to clean it up. LOL
