Barnyard Bash 2012! Another Fun Filled CubFest!

Postby Barnyard » Wed Feb 29, 2012 1:50 pm

The Barnyard Bash is just three months away so now is a good time to start planning. We have moved the date to after Memorial Day; so hopefully, we might see more folks in attendance.

The plan is basically the same as last year, the CubFest will be June 1st and 2nd but early arrivals are welcome to stop in anytime Thursday. In fact I will be around the barnyard all week prior to the Bash getting things ready. We will have lunch and dinner (or dinner and supper depending on where you’re from) on Friday and Saturday. If you arrive early, meals will be on your own.

It isn’t too early to get those motel rooms reserved. Remember, last year one motel was closed and both of the others were full. That left some folks in search for a bed. Here are the local motels to choose from;

The Comfort Inn:
It is now the Executive Inn, but will be a Best Western in a couple months.
Two queen beds run $79.99. A king bed is $74.99
391 Comfort Dr. I-74 exit 1
Harrison, OH 45030
Phone: (513) 367-9666

Quality Inn (was Howard Johnson)
Now Super 8
$49.99 single. $59.99 Two queen beds $69.99. King bed is $59.99
10900 New Haven Rd
Harrison, OH, 45030
Phone: (513) 367-5200

Holiday Inn Express
Two queen beds or one king same price at $99.99
10906 New Haven Rd
Harrison, Ohio 45030
Tel: 513-367-1111

Pets! Pets! Pets!
Pets are permitted but we ask that they be kept on a leash. The Bigdog is totally harmless so we let him roam freely. Our three Border Collies are generally harmless to humans as long as Rosie, Mel or I are around, but since they like little animals for sport they will be confined during the day. Gary and Bob (That’s Dotson and McCarty! I don’t have dogs named Gary and Bob) need their exercise at the end of the day so the dogs are let out to play with them when most everybody is gone.

All in all, I’m sure it will be another fun filled CubFest. If you are new to the forum don’t be shy. Make plans now and bring your better half along. We want to see you there too. It’s a fantastic way to meet other members of the forum as well as learn a ton of things about your Cub. The best part is you’ll have a great time while doing it.

Rosie and I hope to see all of your smiling faces the end of May

Steve, bring that carb along. There will be a carb guy around somewhere.

Can't wait for my first trip out to the Barnyard. Good deals out there. Flight, car, and motel total $383 plus the car's gas! Not bad.

Thanks for posting that Bob! My cell phone has just about wore out it's ring tone from all the calls I have gotten since that aired on CNN. That's okay though, I was getting a little tired of hearing "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge everytime a call came in. This isn't Pittsburgh you know. I could tell by the tone of some caller's voices that they were really John Deere fans. They probably wanted inside information so they could sabotage this great event.

I expect to hear from CBS, NBC, and ABC sometime today. ESPN is supposedly wanting to do a mini-documentary on the site for airing the Sunday night before the Bash. Fox Sports has contacted my attorney wanting to negotiate live broadcasting rights for both days. I don't care how much coverage the national news teams want to do as long as the choppers don't create too much dust and the Goodyear and Fuji blimps don't hit my barn.

Heck, my web site even shut down for a while from all the people trying to get more info. I finally got it back up and running this morning. I gotta go, I hear the sisters singin' again.
