Getting Ready to Plant

Postby Tezell » Wed Feb 08, 2012 8:42 am

I finally got around to putting out lime and "breaking" our garden last week.

I have got a little more work to do on my newly purchased 186 planter and do a little disking and we'll be ready to go.

I intend to plant some corn, peas, squash cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon, okra, tomatoes, and peppers in this plot. Most of that will happen late March to early April.

I have a smaller plot that I am going to put potatoes and onions in next week.

Easter will be here before we know it.

Your garden plot is looking good Tim. You can tell from the picture you're in South Georgia. You would be had pressed to find that much flat land up here in NE GA. We certainly haven't had much winter in Georgia this year. I think everybody is planting early this year. I got my onions in the ground last weekend and I got tomato plants with four leaves on them. Just hoping we don't have a late frost.

If only I could. The ground is past the saturation point, it's going to be a while.

Looks good and nothing better than the look and smell of fresh turned ground. Still to wet here and according to acccu weather 2" of rain over the next couple of days.
