My new Super A seatAs mentioned previously, I have added a deluxe seat to my Super A. The frame was originally on my grandfather's Super A, he installed it in 1961. I wanted it to be original so I went back with a pan seat but I kept the deluxe seat frame. It is definately much more "cushier" than the ol' pan seat....

Re: My new Super A seatYeah the seat is the best looking part of it right now.....I want it to be painted but there are several projects ahead of it...
I went back through some old papers I found here. I have some old sales tickets for stuff my father and grandfather bought from the IH dealer, the oldest is around 1961 and it goes on up through 1974, the year I was born. It looks like my grandfather's Super A was last overhauled in 1961. On 3-13-61 he bought sleeves and pistons(Firecraters) for $50.63, a set of decals for $1.53, A gallon of paint for $8.88, a gallon of thinner for $3.50, two new sealed beam headlights at $5.92 each, and my deluxe seat for $41.33. Then on 3-14-61 my grandfather bought a reground crankshaft for $27.50, along with some other stuff. I guess he was getting it ready for spring work. My great-uncle had a small shop where he painted cars and tractors and did the Super A and several more tractors. It is funny that the seat cost almost as much as sleeves and pistons--but wouldn't we like to get some of this stuff today at those prices! Al "12 volt conversions are for quitters"

Re: My new Super A seat
No it was overhauled in 2000 and finished in '05. Old pistons and sleeves were worn out. Dude didn't do a good job on the rear end and the left rear wheel started wobbling in the housing again. I want to get that fixed before I pull it hard much. Al "12 volt conversions are for quitters"
