I have three pine trees that I have been wanting to get rid of for the last 3 years. There are really 6 but the first three I wanted to get rid of today. The second group of three will probably go in the fall. The trees have been growing into my driveway and are a pain to mow around too.
My plan was to cut the three down and pull them back to the woods behind the house, that way I can cut them up at my leisure and the mess will be back there instead of in my yard. Using a Stihl chainsaw on a pole I was able to reach into the tree and trim some limbs to allow me to get to the trunk where I could cut with my chainsaw.
I hooked my John Deere B to the first tree and was surprised how hard it pulled. I no more got started and had to stop to trim some limbs to clear some power lines between a couple of out buildings.
Unfortunately, once in the field, traction was in to short of supply and I got stuck halfway to the woods and had to have the neighbor come and give me a hand.
Plan B was to cut the remaining trees in half so the B could better handle them.
That plan worked well and now those trees are history.
All that's left is cutting up the trees that I left in my lane and disposing of them in the woods.

That's a good day's work. I sure wish I had those trees in my front yard. The yard would really be lit in December.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Love them trees. I will be planting 50 of them in the next few days. Putting up a tree blind around the house out front of me. i own three sides of his .66 acre. so the plan is to not see his little place. He is a good neighbor. He even paid for half the cost, and will help plant the trees.

My dad just done the same thing to let some sun in on the driveway in the winter.
Good job on the trees Rick, there's more flat land in that one picture than all of WVa put together.

Great job! I feel your pain about the spruce trees. I've got more native spruce than I can stand around my yard. Can't fell and or burn it quick enough!
Love the John Deere B!
