Flash's new ride.
I was over at Rabbit Holler Flash's place today, and looked over his new company truck. quite a rig.
500HP Peterbuilt, The small unit just in front of the fuel tank is a 10K on board generator tied to the climate control system that automatically comes on to maintain cab temps, etc. Walt really appreciates all that since he spends most of his life in it.
Had one thing that really puzzled me though, a tank marked Diesel Exhaust Fluid. For some reason the terms blinker fluid and muffler bearings came to mind. Wonder how many cubs you could tow with that rig.

Re: Flash's new ride.
As I understand, "diesel exhaust fluid" is short for urea. Part of the new emissions guidelines for new diesels. I haven't read up on it real close but apparently it is injected into the exhaust. IIRC there is another method to meet the new standards without using urea--I think Deere is going that route.

Wow, That sure is a keen truck!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Flash's new ride.
Al, he explained it to me. It is super refined rhea, that the computer injects into the exhaust when certain criteria are met indicating the catalyst in the exhaust needs cleaned. The machinery that does it is in the box you can see under the passengers door. The drivers call them possum coolers cookers, really work good for roasting any road kill that hits it when regenerating. Note the big shield around the exhaust. Tip temperature of the exhaust reaches 2,000 degrees when regenerating. No dual stacks on those systems.

Re: Flash's new ride.
Since Flash is on the road and only gets a chance to post occasionally, I will answer for him. The company he works for is the main transport company for Caterpillar if I remember correctly. He hauls large earth moving equipment all over the U.S. Here is a picture of his trailer folded for transport empty. He is over length in many states even then. If you look closely there is a Mott fail mower in the middle he was cub expressing on the way home last year.
and a picture of one of his loads
and Flash's description of the load
and this is the picture Jim linked to showing one of them put together

Rabbit Holler Flash wrote:John thats a 793 Cat Mine truck chassis just like Jims picture. That chunk weighs in around 100k lbs and takes 4 other truck loads of parts to put it together. The rear axle for that puppy weighs over 80k lbs by itsself the bed is hauled cut in two and welded back on site.
As far as what we haul, anything that fits lol. We have 15 of those trailers as well as bigger ones. They are really adaptable with lotsa different deck or beam inserts and can be mixed n matched for customized loading. We specialize in Mining and construction equipment transportation as well as cub parts.
We currently good to go up to about 198k lbs payload putin the gross at around 275k lbs With some new trailers ordered that will put 15 trailer axles on the ground + 4axle tractor for 19 total wears you out thumpin tires.

Man, if we mount those tires on a cub, we'd have an instant "hi-crop".

If I remember correctly from a previous discussion, each of those tires weighs more than 10 times as much as a total cub.
