Aim high !

Postby Yogie » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:41 pm

I was talking to an older gentleman and asked why he had chose the Air Force back during the war over the Navy.
He said it was a pretty simple decision, " Whatever goes up must come down. But whatever goes down doesn't necessarily have to come up."

But they don't always come down in a graceful manner.... 'Bought the farm' is not a Navy term!

Minot, ND or Pensacola, Fla? Now that is an easy question.

A friend of mine chose the Navy because he could swim, but he was sure he could not fly.
Best,
Mike

That reminds me of the saying we surface sailors used to say about submariners. 100 sailors go down and 50 couples come back up. :) To which a submariner would reply there is 2 kinds of ships submarines and targets. Some how I don't think they compare. :?

Scot:

Black Chamber refers to what may now be called the crypto room, spec comms, illicit intercept, sig dev area and other modern definitions. Spook Shack was another term  The modern Black Chamber actually originated with the Brits back in WWI if I remember my history clearly... and was adopted by both the US and Cdn forces. We have had this capability since the Great War and it really came into it's own during WW2 and really matured during the Cold War. Since the fall of the wall, most countries expected this resource to be no longer needed but by 1992 had realized the errors of their ways and started rebuilding.
