Recent purchase Super AV

Postby tractordad » Fri Apr 20, 2012 7:57 pm

I recently purchased this tractor. After going through it, I have found the I need to tighten up the steering. I've read in the past this is a big issue with these tractors. Anyone have some good ideas to help? Most all the play is in the steering box. This is my first super A chassis I've worked on so an help would be appreciated. Thanks

Replace the bushings/bearings in the steering box, then check to see that the sector gear and center steering arm do NOT move on the sector shaft. They are held in place by half moon (woodruf) keys that can wear.

Nice Super AV! By the bolt on style tie rods I would say it is a later one. THere used to be two Super AV's within 5 miles of me, been in the neighborhood since new. Let them BOTH get away! :(

IH's are RED. Just say NO to yellow and white!

Let us pray for farmers and all who prepare the soil for planting, that the seeds they sow may lead to a bountiful harvest.
