Recently while mowing my pto quit. I have had the problem that when mowing for a while and I stall the mower I would have to let things cool down for about an hour before the pto would work again but like I said it just quit on its own this time. I took the pto switch off and cleaned the terminals and checked the fuse. Everything seems OK. I found a hit on this site "184 pto switch" and it seems to bee the same. Any additional thoughts. If it could be a switch where can I get one?

glmassar, the 184 PTO switch is #107372C1 which also subs to #725-3022 (the same switch, but used on many cub cadets of that era). The #725-3022 can be Googled and found in many places for about $20 plus shipping. I would clean and check all of the electrical connections; fuse, switch, connections at PTO, and grounds. Then I would replace the switch since it is relatively inexpensive and most likely subject 'contact wear' over the years.
However, the 'heating up' over an hours use and then quitting until it 'cools off' sounds most likely like the 'coil windings' in the electric magnetic part of the PTO clutch unit itself. If this is indeed the problem, then contact 'Hamilton Bob' for a used coil. They are a rather pricey item.

Do clean all of the connections before buying parts. Also, clean inside the fuse holder on the dash. It may have rusted inside.

Also, if the PTO clutch is out of adjustment, it will heat up too much and cut out. This is a common problem on Cub Cadets with electric PTO clutches. Unfortunately, on the 184, it's not real easy to get to.

Thanks all for your help. One additional question. What should be the voltage at the pto switch and at the connector that goes into the clutch down below the pto switch. This is where the shaft connects into. I have been getting readings anywhere from .15 up to .30

IIRC . . . what your doing/seeing is called a voltage drop test. In essence, if 14.8 volts is available at the battery, somewhere around 14.5-14.6 is going to the clutch, (that's good). The .1-.3 is being used up by the switch.
