Anyone else into street rods, hot rods, or custom cars?

Here is a picture of my 1928 Ford Model A Tudor. It has a Corvette 327ci engine, transmission and a Chevelle rearend. It was originally converted into a street rod back in the early 70's and has a lot of Butch's Rod Shop parts on it.

Future plans include a filled steel roof, a mild 2" roof chop, and a lower stance by means of an air-ride suspension. This is an all original steel car and it still has the original ash wood floor. I think it is kind of a sin to chop the roof of a virgin steel 77-year old cars but hey, that's what hot rodding is all about.

That was about 14 years ago :cry: It was a super fun car. 289 with a C4.
I have a 53 Chevy pickup in the shop all apart ,just need to get around to puttin it all back together. I have a 350 4bolt main with a 700R tranny. The truck has a Posie's front end, Power rack and pinion. with a 67 Nova rear end. Will make a nice truck if I ever get it back together :!:
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

Scott, It was a super nice ride very fast too, was so light it would get away from you very easily. I let my boys drive it when they were teenagers (as long as I was with them!) they loved it. Probably should have kept it but....that's history.
Tim, I prefer Chevys but because it was a Ford with a Ford was one reason I bought it. It had a chrome tube axle in front but I changed it to a Super-Bell dropped I-beam, sure did help the handling.
Got to get my truck together if I can find time between tractors :!:

I am a Mopar and Chevy man myself. This is actually my very first Ford that I have ever owned. I joke with people and tell them that I have the very best Ford ever made - it has a Chevy motor in it! But seriously, I really wish that it had a flat head Ford/Mercury or early Hemi in it instead.

Here's a '48 my son David and I built in the late '70s. We should have started with a better one... the box and about the bottom foot of the cab had to be fabricated. I did most of the metal work, and David did the lacquer and interior. The drive train, running gear, and engine are original.

That's a good looking pickup. Do you or your son still have it? Here is a photo of mine before I took it apart.

I think I'll paint it red (2150 of course) and use it to haul my Cub or Cubs if I ever get my International Cub restored.

Philo - I like your Trans-Am and that is pretty cool that you still have the original snowflake wheels. You don't see them much these days. I had a white 78 T/A.

George and Kodiak, Old Chevy trucks are so sweet looking. Some of my favorite are the 67-72 body styles but the 40's trucks take the cake. Lately I have really taken a favor to the ugly-duckling of the Chevy trucks - the 60-66 body styles. It is kind of cool that years ago people did not pay any particular attention too this year truck and now they are popping up all over at shows.

tim, you are talking aobut a model Chevy that is close to my heart. My father bougth a used 63 long bed stepside in 67 from the original owner. I really loved that truck. It had a 230 engine with a high speed rear end however, so it was of limited use on our farm. In about 75 he bought a 4wd (70 vhevy 3/4 ton) for use on the farm and I bought the truck from him, and kept it until the late 80s. due to needing more room for our family we sold it and bought a second car. Have kicked myself for doing that several times. It rode good and got pretty decent gas mileage for a truck of it's vintage (18mpg if you removed the tailgate). I liked driving it better than anything else I've owned, even though it didn't have enough power to pull your hat off your head. Thanks for bringing back some memorys.

Thanks, Tim. I have had it about six years now, and the previous owner kept it for more than eighteen years. He had chrome wheels on it, so when I got new tires I went back to the original wheels. I like them much better, and there is a lot less work to keep them looking good. I had it painted this year, and new decals too. Now I need to work on the interior and detail the engine. The car came from Buffalo, and was/is rust free. If my cub only looked so good :(
