mechanical transplanter

OK so i came across a mechanical transplanter that i belive fits a cub, i do not have much use for it but i am considering picking it up the owner wants me to make an offer. I think it could be a cool restoration project but am unsure of value and on how common they are, if any one has information it would be greatly appreciated

Hard to say if it will mount to the Cub easily. The one shown in the brochure, attached to the Cub, is a Fast Hitch model.

The mount looks like the one on the top of the second page in the brochure. It also comes with the water tank that mounts on the tractor if that helps with the value.

I don't think the transplanters required a lot to change from one tractor to another. Note the brackets at the front of the frame on each side of this machine. I think it just bolts to a drawbar. That may leave it too far back for a Cub to lift it. A picture of one on a preFast-Hitch Cub would probably tell how to mount one.

I should point out that a "complete" transplanter proably should have a water barrel and water handling system. Seeing your new post, what mounting brackets are with the water tank? They are probably tractor specific.

The people have to get off at rows end for a Cub to lift a transplanter.

Depending on the area where the transplanter came from it was probably used with a 100, A, or super A. Lots of them around here some still used some as yard art. I can't imagine one being pulled by a 400.

It might be worth about $200. I got one for half of that and sold it. I had a manual and yes Cubs pulled them. They were popular in the tobacco growing areas and that is were most of them are. Parts are still available through Holland Mechanical Transplanter. One thing is though the workers have to get off at the end of the row to pick it up. My neighbor who sold it to me planted peppers with it. You can also drop potatos seedlings down the shoot and plant potatoes with it, along with bulbs. Pretty useful if you have the need for it.

So I have the transplanter, and after a trip down to Hog Waller I now have the drawbar mounting brackets and a Cub to mount them to. But, I don't know how, exactly, to attach it -- and surprise, neither did he! Everybody but me uses Fast Hitch I guess.

Could somebody post a picture of how to mount a Holland transplanter to a regular drawbar? Which setting is the drawbar in, what pivots, etc.
