New Paint at Tractor SupplyI have heard several complaints about the new paint that replaced Valspar,I believe the name is Majic paint. One of the guys used the John Deere green and said it doesn't cover like the Valspar did.Another guy said the drying time was too long between coats,I think the humidity might be his problem...Anyways they have talked to the manager of the TSC and he is to attend a seminar this coming week with the paint company.Just curious if any of you guys are having a problem with it...
Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyI haven't used it, and based on your comments and those I have heard from others, I will not buy it. They should have kept Valspar.

Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyWith as much information out there on the web, you would think that more info could be found out about some of this paint. I have not had any luck finding out about:
Who now is selling the Valspar Paint that TSC used to sell? What is the major difference between Valspar regular tractor paint and the Valspar Restoration series? Is there a hard single stage clearcoat out there that can be used over cheap rattlecan paint? Sorry for hi-jacking your thread, but I believe, as others do, that the new paint at TSC is nothing but junk! 1947 Cub S/N 9216 (My Dad's "Uncle Bob")

Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyI have tried the Majic paint and it takes a lot time of to dry and no it does not cover like the Valspar paint. I only purchased 1 can and it was my last.
"I ain't believing this!"
Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyIf you go to http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/index.html and click on "Find a Retailer" you can enter your zip code to find a local dealer. You may find it cheaper than you were paying TSC.

Re: New Paint at Tractor Supplyhello from the deep south , just checked my zip, and find that lowes , and a local "mom and pop", galvez hardware, carry valspar. going to stop on the way home from work tommorrow and check it out. coppersmythe..............................
Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyLowe's does carry Valspar paint. It is one of their top brands, but they do not carry the same paint that TSC did. Go Figure. TSC and Lowes, being a national chain, can only stock what the truck brings to their stores. The local store managers have no control on this.

Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyI suppose not too many folks when looking for paint at Lowes, as part of home improvement, want John Deere Green or IH Red.
Re: New Paint at Tractor Supplythe only part of the majic brand paint I *like* is their red oxide primer.

Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyI personally do not like the Majic paints. It takes to long to drie. I really liked the Van Sickle and Valspar for small jobs. I pick up the Van Sickle when I go see my sister in Kansas. The Valspar paint is available at my local Farm and Fleet store. If I do a tractor I go get Utec or DuPont Syntari or Imron. That is all I will put on a tractor, I know several who do around here also.
My opinion, the Maji Paints are not worth the money if your wanting quality. It maybe weeks before it is fully cured and the implement I used it on last now needs repainted after only about 5 yrs. I has sat outside a bit but not much.
Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyI've used the valspar stuff from TSC several times and HATED IT!!!! Dries slow, stays rubbery, doesn't cover well at all. I can't imagine a paint that is WORSE than it. I have some Valspar gloss black in a quart, and needed to paint a few things last week. It was beautiful out for painting, upper 70s, sunny, dry conditions, absolutely perfect. I brush painted the parts on Wednesday, and I just went out (Monday morning, nearly 5 days later) and checked and the paint will still mark with your fingernail. That stuff SUCKS!

Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyI use IH red, from that green tractor company. Recommended by my green tractor neighbor. If he sprays it, it looks great, If I do, it's ok. (Maybe my hands shake, because of the name on the can) Ed .

Re: New Paint at Tractor SupplyWe have an Orscheln not far away that has a wider selection of everything than TSC. They carry Van Sickle paint. How is that compared to Valspar?
