Starting problem

Postby rich4004 » Sat Aug 11, 2012 8:38 am

My 185 LoBoy will turn over, but won't start. I'm sure it's getting fuel and air and I think there is spark from coil.

Could it be Distributor cap or points?

It "could" be anything. You should pull a spark plug and see if you are getting any spark.
Work backwards from the plugs. Might be points, might be a coil, might be no power to the coil from the key.

File the points--- or better yet install new points and condenser and cap---check wires and make danged sure that they are copper core and NOT the car type crap! thanks ; sonny

If filing the points fixes the issue, you may want to consider going with a pertronix ignition.
