future 184 c60 motor rebuildSo for the time being I did a quick overhaul on my c60 in my 184, but when it was apart I noticed it will need a valve job/valves and guides and I'm not totally satisfied with my overhaul, it seems to make a faint knock/rapping when reved up to top speed, I think it may be a rod, I platigauged the bearings and the no. 4 bearing was at max with a new bearing and that was the one that was down to copper, so the crank will need turning, anyway, just hoping it'll last the rest of the season and around thanksgiving I plan to pull the motor if it doesn't let go by then..lol Anyway, I plan to have it bored but don't know where I CAN GET THE CORRECT oversized dome pistons....anyone have any info on such???
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuildContact HamiltonBob via the link below, he may be able to get you some good used ones.
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuildIt seems you have the time so set up a search on ebay with email notifications. I keep a bunch of them running and keep refining keywords to weed out what I don't want. Eventually I was able to buy 4 new .020" over pistons for what the dealer charges for a single piston.
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuild
I don't want used, I want new, oversized, ie.. .020, or .030
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuild
Contact your local CaseIH dealer.
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuildHave the machine shop get them when you have it bored.

Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuild
why?? can they get dome pistons cheaper??
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuild
They'll most likely be competitive and if there are any problems or hangups it's on them, not you. '61 Lo-Boy

Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuildI did, 80 a piston then 48 for the rings and another 48 for the pins, over 400 is outrageous, there has to be aftermarket out there that is competitive

Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuildWow, that saves me A BUNCH!!! , thanks BOSS!!!!
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuildwell the rapping I've been hearing has developed into a rod knock...no doubt, so my overhaul didn't last long, I'm not suprised, I had a feeling it wasn't after opening motor up and seeing what I saw, however, it may be a wrist pin bushing, goona tear it apart in the next feew weeks and see if one of the new rod bearings crapped out, if not the wrist pin bushings are next to inspect, but its a sure thing the rebuild as the valves I know are in rough shape.
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuildThe #1 rod is the last one to get oil and is usually the first to go.
Re: future 184 c60 motor rebuild
