Wheel Weight (carriage bolt size?)

Postby Johnny Lindqvist » Tue Sep 25, 2012 7:00 pm

I just acquired a L54 blade, full set of wheel weights and some tire chains. I want to get some bolts for the wheels weights. I haven't tried to measure anything. I'd guess the front set of wheel weights to be about 20 lbs and the back one to be 100 pounds although I thought I heard the man selling me them say 157pounds a piece. They are surprisingly heavy. Does anybody know what size carriage bolts I should get to put them on or is this to general a question and I need to give more info?

The backs should be 1/2 inch-13 thread, 3 inch long (not including head) per TM.... (they also have the front bolts)

http://www.tmtractor.com/new/wh/327fp.htm

If IH Cub weights, the front should be 26 lbs., rears 150 lbs. each, yes a good workout messing with them!

Good luck,
David

Johnny,
Welcome to the forum. Your 1958 Loboy is not a "numbered" Loboy so your questions will be better posed in the Farmall Cub section. Looks like you have some nice implements for your tractor.
Here is the page from the Owners Manual describing the wheel weights and bolts. Wheel Weights

You should get yourself a paper copy of the Owners Manual however Rudi's Manual Server will get you what you need as well.

Hope to see you at Cecil's in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, what Peter said.

I have a couple of boxes of 1/2" carriage bolts and will give you enough to mount the weights. You will need to cut them (they are long) Same bolt as the L54 stuff too. I can bring them to Cecil's fest or you can come down one day.

Hey,
Thanks guys, I did search the forum after I first posted and realized that I should have looked around a little but there was so many posts on wheels weights I said to myself somebody will probably respond anyway.

Ha, David I thought they were 150 pounds but I would have felt silly if someone told me they were only 100.

Peter, thanks those manuals are great to have, I've got one for every for just about everything I have. I couldn't find a manual for 58 lo boy but did find one for 59 and I haven't looked or found one for the F194 plow yet.

BK I will take you up on those bolts if I can wait that long to put them on.
Although It appears as though you may be pretty close to me.

Thanks again,

Johnny
