Well I bought another cub yesterday. This one is very rare, and I have not heard of one like it before. It is a square nose loboy long strip. Before anyone gets upset, yes I know that they never made one, but the po of this cub had put on the wrong decal when they had painted it. The story behind this one is, It was bought by TVA (Tennessee valley Authority) for the purpose of mowing the grass around the area of the Kentucky Dam. This cub had dual wheels for mowing on the steep sides of the river banks, and was later sold as surplus. When I went to look at the cub the owner said that he had taken the dual wheels off and had misplaced the adaptors to make it a dual wheel cub. He had the mower, extra wheels, and a front blade for it and the cub looked better than some that I have bought before, so we made a deal. After we had loaded the cub he told me that if he found the adaptors for it he would ship them for me, and so I drove away. On the way home I was looking back at the cub on the trailor, and I saw that the wheels were spaced several inches away from the fenders. When I got home with the cub it was dark and I could not see very good, but I could not help myself I had to get a flashlight and make sure that the spacers were there, and They were. From the serial # and cast codes it is a 1966 model that has been well used. I will attach some pics so you all won't fuss to much.

The man that owned the tractor before had it listed on craigslist under antique lawn tractors. His asking price was $500.00 I didn't think that was out of reason.

I wouldn't have thought the asking price was unreasonable either.... snag it -- gone -- in the barn

An update on the lowboy, Sunday when I returned from Augusta, it was about 3:00 PM, I went out to see what all needed to be done to the tractor to get it to run. I knew that the carb would need work, because the tractor had sit for more than three years with out fuel, and the air supply had been removed from the carb. When I got the carb off the tractor there were the problems that usually are there, bug nest, and corrosion. Also there was one of the bolt holes that had been stripped, which is not a problem now that I know about thread repair, thanks to the post of other members. With the carb back in working order I reinstalled it, and added some fuel, no leaks. Then I started on the points and other electrical problems. It took some time to get the old points back to where they would make contact. ( I usually don't replace any parts that I don't have to till after I see what all is wrong with a cub ) After I had installed a battery, and cranked it over a few times, it started. There was no smoke or bad sounds, so I guess that this one will be a keeper. THANKS to everyone on the site. All of the posts of the problems others have had, does make the job of returning a cub back to service much easier.

I also wanted to thank Ron and the others at the stonethrow VII. I was there only for an hour or so, but I did get to see what can happen at a cubfest. Everyone was enjoying themselves, and getting some cub work done also.
