Bushing # in Cub 45% angle pto pulley shaft

Postby Farmallhb » Fri Oct 05, 2012 12:47 pm

I put a new bearing on the shaft that the belt pulley rides on. When I went to put on the oil seal, I noticed that it was 2 1/16ths larger there abouts than the pto shaft. The seal # is cr11223. Its 1 and 2/16ths dia while the shaft is 15/16ths dia.
I got on YT and someone said that I needed a bushing to go somewhere, but couldnt/didnt tell me the part# or exactly, to me, where it went. Can ya help me out??

I thought what was said there was fairly clear. Here is a picture. You need reference number 45 and either the pulley or number 46 to hold it in place.

I called the IH dealer for Okla, or at least the Eastern 1/2 of it. Said those bushings had been deleated from stock decades ago. Anybody know where to find them?

You may want to try a local trades supply shop - bring in the old bushing and the dimensions needed. They may be able to provide the bushing that you need.

Will have better info after I start to put it back together, but as Jim says that seal does run on the 'bushing' and the other bushing should be on the shaft with the bolt (and a thick 'washer' #48) on the end to keep it in place.

That bushing may be why my Mott mower gear box is leaking?? I will take that one apart after I finish mowing this weekend.

Well I just figured out what that weird part was on Granny's Belt Pulley Gear Box. :)

I dont have EITHER collars/bushings. If I did I would have taken them if bad to a machine shop and had them made. IF I could get specs I should be able to do that anyway.

Ok. We should know what all the dimensions are for the bushing while we are at Cecil's. There are a couple of Belt Pulley rebuilds slated. Of course Larry is in the midst of one now as well.

Up to my eyeballs at the moment, but may try to have a fellow Cub owner teach me a trick about 'sizing' the mystery center bearing.

I haven't taken the Mott mower's right angle pulley off yet (just mowed the fort with it yesterday) but I am thinking that bushing may be why it leaks (and lets water in).

Pictures are still in the camera....
