It says McCormick Chicao Il. on top,a d and does turn, though a little stiff. There is supposed to be an arm that moves the wheel back and forth as the handle is turned to spin the wheel, but that part is broken and the wheel is locked in one position.

I do believe I have time turning the crank on one of those to sharpen mower and combine sickle bars. On the one we had the grindstone was fixed and you moved a bracket holding the bar. Vern

If you like to go to farm sales you incorporate archeology among other things. I am going to help Scrivet clean out some sheds there today. One of them is an old blacksmith shop that the ground hogs have tunneled and dug in to the point that a work bench that used to be waist high is only a foot above ground level, so we will also be using excavation skills, maybe even doing some tunneling.
