Frost, last Friday night, finished off the garden. Mowed down some corn stalks, plowed them under,disked,and finished planting rye, just before the rain started. , this afternoon. Ed

I planted donut seeds, a few times. No germination! Must be from the same seed source as Eugene's red clover came from. Ed

Have to pull tomato plants. Too cool for them anymore. A few bean plants that have been nipped by light frost then only parsnips, carrots and cabbage remain. Rest of garden has been tilled.

Bob, seeds may not be ordered yet but the catalogues are arriving. Next years garden will of course be better than even the pictures. Sweet potato starts were planted last week for the mother plants for next year. Is that close enough to seeds? Vern

The germanition rate for my doughnut seeds was 127.6% but even though I fertilized with plenty of coffee grounds they never produced any doughnuts. We had to cook the leaves and eat them like spinach.

My garden is mowed off all except for the tomato plants. The frost has hit them on the outer edges, but still mostly green and still getting a few ripe tomatoes, so I will wait till they are done then mow them off and plow it for the fall.

Wonder if donuts are a long season crop, for the people below the Mason-Dixon line? Mine never germinated, so I won't know! Ed

I have a pack of those somewhere. Burpee's I think. My Aunt gave them to me years ago when her family ran a hardware store. She said some people got VERY upset and didn't like the humor when the seeds were displayed on the rack with the other seeds. She also gave me a Rustoleum display radio flyer wagon , still NIB. Ethan already had a larger R/F wagon, so it never got opened. Had it almost 30 years.

Hey Bob! I tried donut seed this year in NY, I started them in the greenhouse and set them out. The growing season is short here and what few donuts I got, had icing on.
