Cub Mower Info - McCade, McDade, Mcsomething U35?

Postby Barnyard » Mon Oct 22, 2012 6:34 pm

I obtained the remains of this mower with a Cub I found sometime back. Does anyone have any info on these. I may have asked this a while ago but a search of the forum didn't turn up anything.

Bill:

I don't recognize the name Mc.ADE .. but U35 Ranger seems somewhat familiar. So I googled U-35 Ranger Mower Deck and one of the first hits included this:

Ranger U-35 Ranger Mower Deck

Edit:

I see Jim beat me to it. :)

Yeah, that is the same thing I came up with.

Bill:

I keep a watch on :eBay: strictly for that reason. One of my searches is for mowers and other implements that we have next to no info on. That is how I found some info on a few implements.

I don't have the knowledge to search Craig's List .. so ebay is my search of choice.

I was doing a little rearranging in the barn tonight (you never know when a new arrival may show up) and I came across the belt shield for the mower.

Bill:

Ran with the new info - googled Allied Mowers.

Allied finish mower - old thread but refers to an RM-35 Ranger.

There seems to be some possible leads.

Well it sure looks like a Woods deck. I did call a guy in Rockfalls, Ill. (Mikes Repair Service, he has a mower sales and service business there) just to find out what he may know about a Ranger Mower Deck or Allied Mowers Inc. Turns out he never heard of it or them, even after I told him it was made there!?!? So... that being said, and because it looks so much like a Woods deck (even down to the tread on the tires, the casters, and the support brackets) I would try Woods for parts just to find out how similar they might be.

Do you have the mule drive too? (I guess you do because you have the belt guard). Does it appear to be the same as a Woods mule drive? The only real obvious difference in the idler by the center hub.

Ray, the mule drive is still on the tractor. From the previous thread on this mower Cecil had said it was made by a company started by an ex woods employee. That wood explain the similarities. The deck is shot on this so I will only be keeping the parts from it.

Rudi, Try searchtempest. It will search craigs list and will also search ebay and amazon. It is awfully slow and not the best. It seems to do better when running craigs list only. Vern

I tried SearchTempest and one of the first items I saw was this one:

Farmall Cub Belly Finishing Mower - $175 (Burlington)

Looks a lot like Bill's.

Aw jeez, now you've gone and done it... You've unleashed the cragslist monster inside Rudi...

I would guess U-35 means Underbelly and RM-35 is Rear Mount.

Pretty close, the wheels mount different, there is no idler pulley and it has two unknown brackets on each side on the rear of the deck. Curious as to who made it.
