New hoop-house

Put this together over the past couple days. Tomorrow I'm adding a second tier of wire shelves up high for more seedlings, and a watering system. And close in the south end. The north end connects into the barn.

Looks good! What are you growing? Ed

Well my neighbor gave me a bunch of tomato and pepper plants, on the left. Then I bought some sweet basil and other herbs and re-potted them into the black pots you see, on the right. And tomorrow I'll start some summer squash, other veggies etc from seed and get it a jump start. (Those forum members down south are probably laughing at us.)

Mostly I like the smell in there. If things work out I might expand next year. This one's just 16' long but there's room to double it or more.

Really nice Bob, my mom always had one when we were kids at home. She kept a wood stove going to get a real early start each year. I can still smell the stink from the dirt she always heated it on top of the stove to kill the grass seeds before using it for bedding.

Looks good, all custom, no kit! But one thing......... if you expand it next year how are you going to get to the outhouse? I've never seen one labeled "flammable" before, but hey, I guess it depends on what you've been eating!

Scrivet, you obviously haven't been exposed to Portuguese food! Ed

Believe it or not, that shack is where we keep all the gasoline and diesel cans. Once had a neighbor lose a beautiful shop and all his tools, welding near a gas can inside. Keep motor oils and paint thinners etc in there too,

That is screwed up, I thought that was the outhouse. I've been pooping in there for years. Sorry, and someone else has been using the same bucket. Strange, I'm not the only one.

Nice job Bob, I can't see why your Donut Seed failed in there. Could have been the fumes from the Flameable house!

Exactly Bob :!: I learned in the Navy that POL (Petrol, Oil Lubricants) belong in a separate building. I keep most of my gas in a separate garden shed. I do keep my oils in the pole barn but they are in sealed containers and no where near my welders and won't be anywhere near my O/A setup.

He planted seeds from yeast raised doughnuts which will only grow in the south. He needs to use seeds from the fried cake type of doughnut. Vern

How did the greenhouse fare in the storm?

Quite well! Actually the reason it did quite well was because the poly had ripped a few weeks ago, and I had cleaned it all off. Otherwise I am positive it would have gotten shredded !
