I guess I'll just keep buying Cubs the old fashion way. Face to face. Mecum is having a tractor auction about 50 miles from my home and there is a Cub in the sale. Because it was NR I thought I'd go and see if I could bring it back home to my new shop. I changed my mind. First you have to pay $100.00 to register for a bidding number. Second you have to give them a $ 500.00 deposit. Third there is a buyer's fee of $ 100.00 up to $ 1499.00 and it goes up from there. So it would cost me at least $ 600.00 just to be there and at least $ 200.00 if I bought the Cub before I placed my first bid. For an old hay seed like me that's just to rich. I think I'll just spend the day in the shop working on one of the Cubs I already own. However.....I will go and bid on it for a forum member if you want to sent me $ 600.00

Its one thing if you are buying a $20K JD high crop, but like you said, quite another if you are buying a $1500 cub, pretty crazy the kind of buyer's premiums and other rates they charge to bidders.

In 75 years I have managed to not pay anyone for a chance to buy something from them. I won't start now either!

Many times i go to the local auctions to see what things sell for... I have found people pay (sometimes) a great deal more than something is worth. They get hung up in the bidding i guess.

I might pay a buyers premium but would subtract it from the bid price. I will not pay for the priviledge of bidding. Vern
