second gear

I have a knocking sound when in second gear. can anyone tell me what's wrong. and how to repair it.

Dave:

You will have to take the shifter tower off of the tranny. 1st thing is to check if the forks are loose, if so, tighten them up. You may also have a chipped gear .. then you will have to split the tranny and replace the gear. The Service Manual will have the procedure for that. Also these articles may be of help and of course for your Implement Mounting Hole problem:

Do some further investigation as Rudi mentioned. I would suggest jacking up the rear of the Cub, remove the rear wheels, and try to narrow down the source of the noise and exactly what may be causing it.

Check all your wheel center and rim bolts, to make sure none are loose.
