Does anyone know what the lift capacity of a 3 point ball hitch attachment on a lo boy 185?
I can not lift the tounge on my 26 foot boat. Can lift it with the loader, put a jack stand under it and it will hold it there forever when the stand is removed. Will lift just enough to get the jack stand out, but when load is dropped it will not lift it back up.
I am getting 1300# of pump pressure to the 3 pt. lift ram from the gear driven pump off of the engine.
Can I do better, or am I just asking too much from the 3 point?

I have a friend with a 154, 3pt with a boom pole that will lift my 300 lb with ease.
I also have a 184 here that will lift a 23A disc onto my trailer, IF you can keep the front wheels on the ground
I think you'll find that the "typical" lift capacity of a Cat-1 3-point hitch is rated at about 300 to 500 pounds. Many will lift a lot more than that, and many folks on here will tell you that they've lifted a lot more than that, but I'm fairly certain the specs are in that range. It's not only a matter of pump pressure, but also leverage. I'd say that you're probably well over the 500 pound mark for tongue weight on a 26' boat, and probably more like 1000 pounds, so you're probably just trying to lift more than the tractor will do.

Service manual calls for a 1500 to 1600 relief valve. A little more pressure may do your job. Check to be sure your Hydro Fluid is clean, with no moisture (ie milky look).
Pump may be weak.
Circuit relief valve is part of your control valve under you gas tank. Prior to serial# 18709, non adjustable and need to replace the relief valve. After serial# 18709, it is adjustable by adding shims. See your service manual.
If you are lifting too heavy of a load the release valve should start to open. You should hear the noise of the bypass valve. If you don't then likely you have a worn pump.
Mine lifts a 300 lbs landscape rake easily, the prob I notice is the front wheels at that point seem to be floating a little as if they want to lift..lol

I have lifted 600+ lbs easily with my 154's 3pt. Now to whether or not that the safest think is another matter.

As others have stated, the 3 point should lift enough that it will nearly pull the front wheels off the ground before the hydraulics bypass, enough that you may lose the ability to steer the tractor. I would be surprised if a 26' boat on a trailer will have more than 500 lbs. of tounge weight but I guess anything is possible.
If your tractor isn't getting light in the front end while trying to lift the trailer then something is wrong with the hydraulics as Hamiltonbob suggests. If it is lifting the front of the tractor then the trailer is just too heavy.

Anytime the front wheels get light with any piece of equipment your beyond the max capabilities.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
