Sidedresser hopper ??

Postby TCryer » Sat Nov 03, 2012 8:46 pm

I wanted to see if somebody could help me with a question,, on EBay there is a new plastic hopper that specifies Cub, Super A, 140,100,200,230 it is $320.00,,, there is another one from a different company that looks identical but does not specifically state for a cub , BUT list all the other tractor such as super A , 100, 200, 230 ect...for only $160.00 ,, my question is there a difference in these hopper ? If one will fit all the same tractor and a cub , shouldn't the other that fits all those same tractor shouldn't it also fit the cub ?? Any input would be greatly appreciated ,,

Neither will work on a cub, The adjustment gate will hit the chain and or sprocket on a cub, unless you run it wide open and that would put down way too much fertilizer

While it is tight, mine works ok (agri supply chinese knockoff) There is enough room to close it just below halfway, but you cant close it off. Also, you can take the sidedresser assembly off, remove the shaft and gears, turn everything around and put it back together so that the drop spout is toward the front. That way, the feed gate adjustment is toward the tractor instead of the chain sprocket.

Yea just realized that looking at them on Wengers site ,, is there anybody that makes the complete hopper with the bottom ( a complete hopper ready to mount) ? That is correct and works right ? I have found several on the Internet but they All look the same , like they come from one Place in China , is there one made in the U.S. by anybody ? I guess (if they are still available ) one from Case IH would require a second mortgage !?

If you buy the hopper, you should be able to find the cast base without too much trouble. I got a complete base for $20 (minus the star wheel)

I recently called a local Case/IH dealer (the only 2 in the state actually) and Talledega International told me they are NLA, peroid. Aliceville Tractor told me they are NLA complete and the last time he sold a complete one (3 years ago), they (dealership parts dept) ordered all of the parts (which are still available), and put it together in the shop and sold it to the customer. This was, of course, at the cost of each part; which he stated to me was over $700.00.....I forgot the exact amount. Both dealerships actually had limited knowledge on the parts/products too.....from the way it sounded on the phone.

I've got (3) NOS ones (two of which have the later model "CASE/IH" decal) that aren't going ANYWHERE!!

That sounds right. A local dealer who is in our IH club said basically the same thing a few years ago. I think it was around $600 for one assembled from parts back then!

I will take my 200 dollar setup that works fine, and put the other 4-500 in my pocket
