My Version Of A DRV

Postby ricky racer » Sat Nov 10, 2012 11:07 am

This is my version of a DRV (Deer Recovery Vehicle). The older I get the more I must rely on mechanization to do work for me. Every year you hear about hunters dying from heart attacks while dragging their deer. I know when I drag one it doesn't take long for my heart to feel like it will beat out of my chest. Kind of sucks getting old but it beats the alternative.

Any deer that I have to recover that I can't get to with the Cub I'll drag it behind my old ATV to a point that I can get the Cub to. I can drive the Cub into my shop where I can use a hoist to lift it out of the carrier.

It's always fun trying to come up with ways that I can use my Cub to make my life easier. This little tractor has paid for itself many times over saving me a whole lot of work.

My oldest son got one and like you I had to use the cub to drag it up the ravine and out of the woods, and then load it into the wagon.

Wow, that's a very nice buck. I hope to be hunting deer in about a week. Just squirrels so far this year.
I almost hope I don't get a big one because the last time I did, It was a tough job dragging it out a half mile in the dark back
to my camp. Like you said the ol ticker was just pounding. My dad used to hunt moose in Canada. They had a heck of a time
bringing the moose from deep in the woods in canoes, but they did it each year. He still always bags a deer each year up there
in Mi. Congratulations .

Looks great Rick, had the pleasure of using one of my cubs a few weeks ago to bring one in but not near as nice as your buck.
Congrats stick bow guy... :{_}:

No Jim, I didn't. My guess is that he'd weigh about 150-160 lbs. Wow, I84# field dressed is a big deer! If I shot one that big, I might need a bigger tractor.
