Here is my first attempt at a Lawn tractor restoration. It started out as a free tractor, but we all know how that turns out. :lol: Image
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape.

It got a long way from free after tires, gaskets sets, battery, etc etc and more etc then some more etc. But it was worth while. :D :D

Yes, I had every bolt out of this mower and replaced everything that needed it. Thats what I call restored. Not just paint and new oil in the engine.

You don't know how tempted I was to do just that..But I am planning on selling it and didn't want to have to fight a deere guy over it. :P :twisted:

Image I think you did pretty well.. and it was more than worth while. That 214 looks like it just came off the show room floor !

WJ,

I don't come here in this part very often, but wanted to comment.

The 214 was my very first John Deere mowers and it ran flawless. Mine was bought new in the late 70's I believe and mowed one of the local cemeteries for 20 some years and then I bought it. I used it for a long while and I was so impressed with the Deere machines, that's when I deicided to get my 318.

I really liked the varible speed drive on these models, one could go in between the gears selected. The Kohlor engine will give you many many years of trouble free service too.



GREAT JOB!

Remember: Nothing runs liike a Deere, (sorry IH guys, I love the green ones too, :D )
