One of the neatest terms I have learned from my friends in this community is the term "grunt" as coined by Dave aka dirt devil and he uses it to describe power. I thought this would be interesting .. this happened last Friday as we were transferring top soil from Ray's place to my garden ..
Ellie almost had that F-150 moving .. another 1/2 horse would have done it I think. We were pulling up hill as well. Sure shows how much power Ellie actually has, impressed me a lot. Almoooost! There was a 3/4 load still in that trailer and it had sunk a bit. Ellie tried valiantly to move that F-150 4x4 but just didn't have enough weight/power. The Massey 1040 pulled it out effortlessly .. however I stick by my guns - Ellie did all the hard work prepping for the Massey
One thing that concerned me was not being able to shift properly for a minute or so. Then I finally got it into reverse and then 1st. She has been shifting normally since. That was the most blow-by I have seen since I have owned her. I think maybe it is time for some more Sea Foam in the crankcase and the gas.
As I mentioned before, Ellie really impressed me on Friday and I am looking forward to more seat time Monday and Tuesday.
I never saw your tractor tires spin, which I think they should have given the apparent conditions there. Your clutch was slipping. It probably quit disengaging because it was overheated. Once it cooled, everything went back to where it was and you were able to shift.
I agree. I have never seen a cub just die down without the tires spinning first in grass.

Rudi, were you feathering the clutch the whole time there or did you have the clutch out when it was grunting like that?

I was kinda on the clutch a little bit. With the newly redone rear end I didn't want to break it. Good thing I didn't stay on it too long. It was a good try though. Imagine if Ellie could have moved the F-150 and trailer load -- some cool. Ray figures there must have been about 5,000 or 6,000 lbs of trailer and topsoil plus whatever an F-150 Laredo King Kab 4x4 weights behind Ellie. All I was trying to do was get him off of the slick part.
I had Ellie out this afternoon. After a weekend of a little rain and temps above 0C, the left overs were kinda thawed out. Ellie did a great job moving some more top soil into the garden. Ray came over with the Massey and helped a bit as there was still a lot to do. Ellie shifted nicely, at 3/4 throttle more than enough power to move the topsoil. She was slinging dirt -- nicely too I might add. After we moved most of the top soil into the garden, Ellie did all the clean up including some blade sharpening . The lawn looks pretty good considering there was 10 buckets per load and Ray brought over about 15 or so loads.
I will be checking Ellie's clutch fingers and will adjust if needed.
Thomas, get the saw out and cut that tree off first.

Good one Denny! I was wondering when it would start! I was pulling some small brush up and came to that tree. I figured what the heck, I'll shoot some video and see what y'all have to say
