Probably the wrong time of year to be messing with a mower, but I would like to get it right before I put it to bed for the winter. The 'Mushroom Mower' is a Fast Hitch C-2. The problem is it want to flip the belt on the top sheave upside down, with the V up instead of in the grove. Is is possibly that the 'angle' of the right side idler is off?? I know there is an angle on the bracket, but it may just be too much? The pictures are before I ran it a short time, so the belt is correct side up.

My opinion. Looks like the sheave needs to move inward a fuzz. You can see a slight angle on the belt from sheave to idlers. Also make sure the tension on the belt is right.

your top sheave is about 1/2 inch out of line. by using a good eyeball , you line the V in the top sheave to the bottom sheave V.

I agree with Clark, if I am seeing the pic correctly. The top sheave looks further back than the left one, so move it in a hair. Also, not at all certain, but the right sheave angle does look canted a bit much; however, it may be correct for the belt to go to the spindle; I would look at that track also, and adjust if needed.

Thanks! I think ya'll are right about the top pulley being too far out (should be able to tell from the rust?). I also think the right idler is 'in' too much. So I will try both of those 'adjustments' and see if it helps. Possibly with the old belt, the one in the picture is new. I was hoping someone has a picture of what it should look like. I will double check my library. These are some of the 'before' pictures:

Larry, the old belt may have been damaged internally, and will twist, even if the cause is corrected. Better to test with the new one. Ed

Sorry to be so slow to let ya'll know about this one.... I moved the top pulley in and that cured the problem. Rick wins the prize!
Still have some other issues with it, but it's a heavy beast and is put away until spring. With new blades!
Thanks for the help!
