That's exactly the problem.

My '53s carb was leaking and it turns out that the needle seat wasn't sealed because the threads are too long. I recognized the seat and needle from a misguided TSC purchase from a few years back.

Luckily I bought a needle and seat from TM a couple years ago for my '67 Cub, but never used it.

The '53 runs GREAT now, but it leaks around the carb inlet...

Next time you have one apart, look REAL close.

With the seat tightened all the way down, there's still about 1/32" of an inch of gap and the gasket is "floating."

Has anyone out there tried this type of needle and seat?
I ordered it from a well-known IH supplier, but it doesn't look the same as the one shown here from TM. Any thoughts, opinions or experiences with this set up?

Read all the posts above yours in this thread. That is the TSC needle and cage that is being discussed. IMHO, junk. Others have had success. Your results may vary.
