Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??I am thinking maybe the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in January, 2014. I will check with William, the owner of Brown's Auto and Collision, on both dates and get back to see what works for the most folks! It may be the first of next week before I get back, since I have some guests from England til Sunday. Have a good weekend!

Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??
Dale, I had almost forgotten until last week.....There is big plowday near Farmville, NC the weekend of Jan. 12 that I usually try to get to. The following Saturday would be better for me, but do what works best for you. Al "12 volt conversions are for quitters"
IH's are RED. Just say NO to yellow and white! Let us pray for farmers and all who prepare the soil for planting, that the seeds they sow may lead to a bountiful harvest.
Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??The 19th sounds fine with me...I will check with William and get back. Will you be working a cub or your SA?

Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??
The Super A. I need to helicoil some holes in the torque tube--same size as the ones on a Cub. thanks! Al "12 volt conversions are for quitters"

Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??
Gee...that really WOULD be planning ahead, eh?! Heck, I don't even know what I am doing tomorrow, much less over a year from now!! Dale Finch
Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??Dale,
Were you able to lock down the 19th? My January is filling up. I need to make sure I can make plans for the other weekends. Joel

Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??YES!!! I checked with the owner, and January 19th is ON!! The name and address of the place we will be working is:
Brown's Auto and Collision 11744 Hwy 15-501 South Chapel Hill, NC 27517 You can reach me with any questions at 919-360-7979 (cell). I plan to work on my '53 Cub and any/all projects are welcome. I know I will welcome a few extra hands to help me! I will have my tools, a hoist and rolling jackstands (one for the Cub and one for a SA) for splitting. There is compressed air, electric, water, a hydraulic press, hydraulic jacks, parts cleaner, a sandblaster (you need playground sand from Lowe's at $3/bag) and sandblasting cabinet (though I haven't used these last 2 in a while so condition is unknown!) If you plan a project, please bring your own supplies such as carb cleaner, seals, gaskets, filters, oil, gear oil, HyTran, etc. It is not a mechanics shop, so there are few supplies for that. You could do some painting, also, and I do have a respirator. If you plan on bringing a really dirty beast, bring some cleaner to wash it down outside (purple power, etc)! I will try to bring some miscellaneous common hardware and I do have some gasket material of different thicknesses, but don't count on much. There are restaurants and fast food places within blocks, and a nearby NAPA store, (but I don't know their Saturday hours) There is also Clapp Bros and Tractor Supply in Siler City about 30 minutes away, but Clapp Bros closes at noon, I think, on Saturday. All I ask is that we leave the shop clean and tidy, so William doesn't kick my arse out!!! If for some reason any tractor is not able to make it out on Saturday (I have faith that we will get everything done!), I am sure we can leave it in the shop. It is secure and no one works on Sunday...I will manage to get a key, I only live about 2 miles away from the shop and it could even stay over til Monday if needed. There will be plenty of parking. Right now the field next door is set up selling Christmas trees, but will be clear by Jan 19. Looking forward to meeting everyone! Dale Finch
Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??I'm there!
I know I talked about it before, but I can't remember if anyone said for sure---can I bum a couple helicoils and the tap, drill, etc. from someone? If not I will round all that stuff up. I wanna fix a couple mounting holes on Old Ugly the Super A---these are the ones in the torque tube, same size as a Cub, and they go all the way through---no need for a bottoming tap. Looking forward to it!! Al "12 volt conversions are for quitters"

Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??
I will head over to the farm in the next few days, and MAKE SURE that the helicoils I have are the right size, and will let you know. If they are, you are welcome to them! Dale Finch
Re: Possible Mini NC Cubfest??Cool I will keep that day clear. Thanks Dale
