A 23A disc harrow came with the cub I just purchased and it appears to be in decent condition. Discs look to be 16" and the everything is functioning. Now for the questions...
First, were these painted red? It seems I can detect the old paint faded to brick red in a few protected spots. Second, one of the front gang support arms is broken. Are these available or should I weld/make a new one? Some thoughtful soul also welded the nut to the threaded portion of the arm.

Re: 23A disc harrow questions
I just scrolled through Messick's 23A parts. Aside from small pieces like nuts and bolts, it looks like the only larger pieces that may be available are the discs, bearings, and spools. You might post in the "wanted forum" and see if anyone has a parts disc. I'll let someone else discuss colors.

That rod is discontinued. Depot Parts has some, if you have a dealer that works with them. It is probably about a $25 part that way.

I will check into Depot Parts - I'm not familiar with them. Thanks, Jim!

It is essentially a clearing house for discontinued parts. Dealers can send them excess discontinued parts then other dealers can buy from them. Not all dealers participate.

Measure up the old rod. I think you can find something here that will do the job.

Don, Another person mentioned investigating that avenue. That is a good idea, will check it out and let everyone know.

Re: 23A disc harrow questions
In 1950 my grandfather bought a Cub with several implements including the 23A disc and although it's pertty faded, it definitely red.

Thanks, that confirms my suspicions about color.

I bought a bolt from Fastenol and cut the head off, to make one for mine.
