New Heater (Pooped)

Postby Jeff Silvey » Tue Dec 18, 2012 9:13 am

Well you all know I put up a new Mr. Heater 50 BTU in my Cub Cave. Those that were there for the my CF said that is a Great heater. It works great well till last weekend. It took a big poop. I thought I would turn it down a little & went out doing other things in life. Well got home it was a little cool. I went to turn it up nothing I said what the heck. I shut everything down let it set for 2 days still nothing. I called Mr Heater Company they guided me through some things It would nit light. Come to find out it needs a new board. I did get to talk to a real person & they spoke English. I told them that was a Great +. I still would recommend this heater.

That's a bummer, Jeff! Is the warranty furnishing the new board?

Jeff
I’m curious what fuel are you using? I’m seriously thinking of converting from wood to something else…getting too old for wood cutting these days.

Jeff,

First, I never touched that heater, controls or any part of it, so am innocent on all counts. Second, I hope you weren’t standing under it.... :big what:

I hope the board is covered and easily repaired,
David

How would you have been able to tell?

We were wondering about these. My buddy has Natural Gas at his place up the street and his little electric heater isn't doing what it should do.

50,000 BTU Natural Gas Shop Heater

I imagine they might be a bit cheaper in the US ...

I have a Mr. Heater propane Torpedo heater which I kinda like. Inexpensive way to get heat where you need it.

My neighbor Matt down the road that has the auto repair shop has that same heater in his shop. When he first bought his, it quit too and they sent him a new circuit board which didn't solve the issue. Matt had a repairman come out to the shop and they found out the exhaust tube wasn't venting properly. Once they took care of that issue, it's been working flawless for a couple years now. When I called Matt and he said back then that they completely removed the exhaust tube on the back of the unit and when they tested things it fired up and worked. That's when they focused on the exhaust setup. May not be the same issue you have, but keep that in mind if the new board still doesn't work. He bought his unit through Northern Tool.
