Need Bearing Cross Reference

Postby Eugene » Fri Dec 21, 2012 7:31 pm

Need a cross reference for IH 404 836 R91. Front wheel bearing for 154 Cub Low-Boy. Current bearings say Lutco, B1S B6534.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Actually I was looking for the cross reference to a SKF, Timken, etc., number.

I can locally purchase tractor parts cheaper, some times much cheaper, half the price listed on the internet.

Confession. I purchased a pair of front wheel bearings for the 154 months ago after spending 4 or 5 hours researching a cross reference. I didn't write down the manufacturer or bearing number. It's cold, dark, and I'm not up to the 12 mile round trip to shop just to remove the hub and get the numbers from the bearings.

Don. Thanks. I'll try cross referencing the John Deere bearing numbers.

Eugene, your bearings will not be Timken style with cup and cone. Won't match up to SKF either. Just order the ones that it calls for and call it even. Just my 2Cents from an old bearings sales guy. Steve K.

Federated Auto Parts, part number: B1SB6534. Still a good number. Looked up the old sales slip for the part number. B1SB6534 is a cross reference for IH 404 836 R91, front wheel bearing for 154 Cub Low-Boy

Common bearing used by IH, John Deere, Bobcat and others.

Discussing the lack of cross reference numbers with son. Son said equipment manufacturers are ordering their parts from suppliers, having the equipment manufacturer's parts number installed or no parts number applied. General idea is that you have to go back to the equipment manufacturer to get parts.

I found the bearing on manufacturers product lists, retail outlets lists, all with different part numbers.

I purchased new and used 154 front wheel bearings from hamiltonbobscubs just to have an inhouse supply. Besides my two int154's two of my cub cadets use these larger 1" bore bearings too. With my project int154 i have new spindles with tapered bearing hubs.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Bearings and some ignition parts for the 154 arrived at the auto parts store yesterday. The bearing took about 10 days to arrive, the other parts were next day service.

Buying locally, the savings on each bearings was from $1- to $8- based upon the advertised prices from retailers on the internet, plus there was not shipping and handling charges.

Frugal is a nice word. I research the price of most parts that I purchase. Frequently there is a significant difference in the advertised price for the same part from different retail outlets.

Way to go! If available, buying local is almost always less expensive than buying over/thru the internet. Product being equal, shipping (usually) is more than taxes.
