2012 - A Year in Review, Happy New Year!

Postby Barnyard » Mon Dec 31, 2012 6:38 pm

Once again the year has seemed to come to an end faster than expected. Time sure flies when you’re having fun, and what great fun it was! Many members got to attend their first CubFest and got a taste of what real Cub fun is. They came to help, they came to get help, or they just came to see what a CubFest is all about. The important thing is, “They came”, and they had a great time. There is so much going on at a CubFest that one day never seems to be enough. Many CubFests have become a two day event with great attendance both days. It looks like there is no let up in sight. The New Year hasn’t even started and the calendar is already filling up.

Speaking of CubFests, it would be hard to think about a CubFest and not think of the man who worked hard to see that CubFests became a well known event held throughout the country. That man of course was George Willer. Sadly, George passed away in June of this year. His loss has left a void in many members’ hearts. George was always there when someone wanted good, honest, and straight from the heart advice. He cared tremendously about the needs of others. Whether it had to do with Cubs or any other subject, George was there to help. His work ethic, integrity, and well deserved reputation for wanting to help others will not soon be forgotten by members of Farmallcub. George did a lot for the members of this website and he will surely be missed by many of us.

Several members suffered hardships this past year. Illness made its way to many members’ families and, at times, took loved ones away from them. Tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural disasters did major damage to vast areas, affecting forum members in many ways. However, the ever present offering of assistance or prayer from other members was again there. We pitch in to help when help is needed. Many members don’t need to be asked, they just do it. That shows we have become like a family. We are always there for our forum family.

Joys were abundant also in 2012. Children were born, children graduated, children married and we all celebrated in some way. It is not uncommon to see a post where somebody is recognizing another member who may be celebrating a birthday. We all join in with our well wishes and let the member know we care. Congratulations are always tossed out to others upon an achievement. We never forgot a member who had done an outstanding job, whether it was landing that long awaited promotion or finishing their Cub after weeks, months or even years of painstaking work. We did it because we are family, always there for each other.

As was last year, we added about 900 new members this year. Many of them seek the same thing now as new members did a year ago, good, solid advice about their Cub, and they got it. The experts always come through with the answer that helps the new member get his Cub going. Without the folks putting the answers together this website would disappear. It will continue to grow because we refuse to give up and walk away. Very few websites can boast of having such a large contingent of members ready to help. Each and everyone here deserves a big thanks.

Not only did the membership grow, but this website itself grew also. Dennis added many new forum pages to help us navigate better throughout the site. Many of the tractor forums have been broken down by tractor type. Now finding info about a particular tractor is much easier. A member no longer has to wade through information about other machinery when looking for help with his/her specific tractor or implement. A new manual link has also been added. Searching for your specific owner, service, or parts manual is now easier. The site continues to grow in positive ways. Who knows what is in store for 2013.

Yes it was another year. Some will say it was a great year; others will be glad it’s over and hope for a better year ahead. Whatever the feeling, we can rest assured other members will be there, in the background, waiting to help us if we fall. It is their nature to do so and their generosity will never be forgotten.

While we celebrate this season with our families, let us not forget those men and women who can not be home with their loved ones this time of year. The members of our armed services work to ensure we have the freedom to celebrate in whatever way we wish. Without their sacrifice we may not have that right. They should never be forgotten, no matter what time of year it is.

Remember, if you celebrate tonight with adult beverages make sure you pass your keys off to someone who will look out for your well being. We don’t want to lose an important part of our family.

Rosanne, Melissa, Nick, and l hope every day of the coming year is filled with happiness and good cheer for you and your families.

Happy New Year everyone!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
