That Time of Year

Postby Goraidh (Jeff) » Tue Jan 01, 2013 10:13 pm

OK. So had some fun plowing a couple days ago. Wasn't too cold (20f) but the wind was howling at 40mph. Enough clothing and a fine-running Cub kept the cold at bay. Here are a couple photos. By the way, the Norse have a saying: There isn't bad weather, just bad clothing.

That Norse saying just about covers the whole topic. Enough right clothes.

My hat is off to you guys, and guess that is my problem, I don't know any Norse, don't have a fire to warm up by, just good old natural gas c/h. It's nice in here now, but thanks for the cold, cold pictures. (I gotta get them off the monitor before it chills the whole house down.)

Maine winters, got to love them. I lived through two of them near Caribou.

Oh Rodney, Caribou is cold by ANY standard! Jeff is right, clothing makes a huge difference. I have scooted along the old rail lines up that way on a snowmobile at 80mph in sub-zero temps and been comfortable. I can't think of any clothing that makes 90F with 90% humidity comfortable.... possibly something at the NASA online store??

As for me I love the snow and love to play in it. Got wee bit of seat time here in the big city, it was above freezing yesterday but turned cold overnight.

I hear ya, Larry. In winter, you can add layer of wool after layer of wool to keep ya warm, but come summer, you can only take off so much. I don't know how those Southern Boys handle that much heat. Likes to kill me. Plus, you can't ice fish unless there's ice!
