oil pressure highI recently bought a 1952 Cub and noticed my oil pressure is all the way in the white zone of mh gouge is this normal??
Re: oil pressure highWelcome to the Forum!
What weight oil are you running? Does the pressure drop at all after the engine is warmed up?
Re: oil pressure highEither you have a bad gauge or the relief valve is stuck , If the pressure does not drop back some after it has wormed up.

Re: oil pressure highHi people,
My gauge does drop down after i shut it off, what worries me is that i dont remember it being that high when i bought the tractor. I since changed the filter and oil (30w) and its still high should i be concerned?
Re: oil pressure highEasy no cost check for stuck oil pressure regulator valve. Start engine and get oil pressure up. Stop engine. Remove the cap on the oil pressure regulator, remove the spring. Replace the cap.
Start engine at low idle, observe the oil pressure gauge for 15 to 20 seconds. Stop engine. Remove the cap to the oil pressure regulator valve. If valve is now located in the back of the bore, next to the cap, valve is not stuck. Could be that the spring has been replace with a much heavier one. In case the valve is stuck. Post back, we have a valve removal method/tool. Although once functioning, the valves seldom stick when the tractor has been relatively frequently operated. My guess is the fault is the oil pressure gauge. I have an excuse. CRS.
Re: oil pressure highWhere is the oil pressure valve located?? sorry im new to this and my tractor, but learning quickly... pictures are helpfull to!!
Re: oil pressure highFront right side of the engine, behind a "hex cap", just above the water inlet line.
Tried to final a photo that pointed it out, but had no luck.
Re: oil pressure highThanks Ray still not sure were that is,near the radiator?? sorry im not clear on were its at.

Re: oil pressure highok great pic now i just need to locate that item and shall i try what you suggested then?
Re: oil pressure highRemove that hex bolt, and behind it will be a spring. This spring pushes against a plug and is what regulates the pressure. If the plug is stuck, there will be no relief and it will cause high oil pressure.
Open it up and have a look. If its stuck and you can't get it out with a magnet on a stick, come back and we'll show you a trick to get it out and cleaned up.
Re: oil pressure highOk great so, far Im a cnc machinist so this will be fun. Love to see your trick...
Re: oil pressure highIf i try this and i still have high pressure is it safe to run, also if i push on this wooden dowel i will not push anything into the motor will i? Thanks for all your help if i try and it doesnt work i hope its good to drive...
