Thanks to all that helped in assisting me with my engine problems. I thought I had.
First , engine kept missing and no smooth low idle,Second , low oil pressure after warming up. Third , engine shutting down after running about a half an hour or so.
Well , I replaced FM 483 with a H4 rebuilt by Magmaster, Jon.Great job. Idles smoothly and no missing. Still had problems with oil pressure dropping below range. Thought it might be bearings. My father -in law came over Sat. Went through things . It did'nt make sense that if oil pressure dropped engine did'nt tie up (Thank God)
So I took my oil pressure indicator off my cub and guess what, Bad oil pressure guage. Duh! Checked compression wet and dry tested good suppose to be 95 psi , checked 90psi with little or no variation between cylinders. Next, cut out of engine after a half hour running time. ran engine for a while then it quit ,on que. We removed fuel drain on the carb. no fuel. So it took old line off, Steel and rubbler combo. bent a new one with all steel had good fall on it ,completely cleaned tank and put fresh fuel in it. Runnin like a champ.
My oldest son pulled trees up to cut for firewood for about an half hour. I mowed for about an hour. only problem encountered was two things. One ,that belt came off , separate issue and two, did'nt have any more work to do with it.
Again Thanks to all that helped with this , Now GREAT RUNNING 1945 BN
Keep up the good work!
