Need opinion on resto
The floor pan on the old cub we are restoring is in pretty rough shape. I am thinking about rhino lining it and then painting to match the tractor. What do you guys think? I know it won't be original but would be very functional and easier than restoring it. I'm not sure if it could be restored because it is very pitted, scratched, gouges, etc. even if it can be restored, it would be beyond our capabilities to do it. Please give e your thoughts and advice....

My opinion. It's your tractor, you decision.
How about just cleaning up the rust, painting with thick red paint and while the paint is still wet, cover with course sand. When paint is dry, shake off any loose sand, repaint the sand.

I have an excuse. CRS.

What's a good used floor pan cost? If you're restoring it a good used one would make it look nice and correct. Rhino lined might look good or it might look odd and out of place.

Can the rhino lining be painted? Bondo is pretty forgiving, if you put too much on, you sand it off, too little, you add nore. Some have used wide non skid tape between the grooves also.

Re: Need opinion on resto
Thanks Dale, PM sent
Ricky: not sure what a pan cost and have not been able to locate one either
Bob: not sure if rhino can be painted, the local shop is checking not it for me. They were also kind enough to donate the rhino lining to us since it is a 4H project
I can paint the cast stuff but any body panels tat need to look good and shiny will have to be farmed out. I am no body/paint man by a long shot! I have a friend who is decent at that kind of stuff that is going to help us out and try to teach us along the way but his time is very limited so it will be kinda touch and go. Would prefer to find someone who has experience in this area who could donate some time and labor but that is a long shot I'm sure
Thanks for all the responses!!!

Rino Lining can be applied to any metal surface that has been roughed up with 80 grit paper or preferably sand blasted. I think they offer a red. If not the Scorpion Lining brand does have a red. Do a search for Scorpion in your area. I know that Scorpion also has a rubber crumb they add to their product.

I have no idea what brand, but I've certainly seen truck bed lining painted to match before. Personally, I think it would work pretty well on a floor pan. Give it a try, if you don't like what you get, you can replace it.

If it were me, I would compare the cost of replacement vs coating the old one.

Re: Need opinion on resto
Donated Rino lining is probably the low cost item. Since it probably will flex, make sure you use a flexible additive in the paint (like what is used on plastic or polymer parts)
