Re: Let It Snow-- New EnglandWe could sure use that here in Colorado. Very few of the ski areas even have all of their runs open this year due to lack of snow. It will be a dry summer if the snow pack doesn't increase a lot before spring.

Re: Let It Snow-- New EnglandI'm glad to be on the "non essential personnel", list. After many years of "essential personnel", driving to and from work, in this stuff, I throw another log on the fire, and wait it out! Ed

Re: Let It Snow-- New EnglandLogs are on the fire in the furnace, got me blankie. Already -10C going down to -19C overnight with -31C windchills. Gonna be a sit in the house, blankie over me legs and make like a tater this weekend. 40 cm expected Friday/Saturday and another 40 cm Saturday/Sunday ... well at least that is what the prognosticators are predicting.

Re: Let It Snow-- New EnglandOh Rudi... THANKS for the morning humor
You made my whole day don p.
Re: Let It Snow-- New EnglandThe snow map this morning projects 18" to 24'" for western MA with most of it coming in overnight. Psyched -- no other way to describe it for me (if, of course, the Cub doesn't develop "issues" on starting or plowing). And the Cub, well, if it could bray or whinny like the mules or horses it has repeatedly replaced over the years...you can bet we'd be hearing from it out in the barn. Started up the Cub yesterday and ran it some. Will do the same today, and tonight will probably put the oil pan heater on.
When it is powder snow, it is easy to plow no matter how much is on the ground, but wetter snow needs to be plowed soon, and this means crawling out of bed to push every 6" or so. I'm hoping for powder and good night's sleep. Luckily, we had a warm spell since the last snowfall, and the Cub did a great job pushing that rotting snow back out of the driveway -- this is an important lesson I've learned over the years: that driveway can fill up with plowed snow if I'm not attentive. Now there's room for the new stuff.
Re: Let It Snow-- New EnglandAll we are supposed to get out of that is some rain, no snow, and that suits me just fine. 20 or 30 years ago a good deep snow was a challenge and fun. Now it is just a pain, literally.

Re: Let It Snow-- New EnglandForecast, for Monday, is 40 degrees, and rain. That should clean up a good part of it.
I have a big maple tree, in the field, that I've wanted to take down. Multiple trunks, with intertwining branches, making it dangerous, to cut down. This morning, I cut into three of the thickest trunks, "18"+, and hope the storm knocks them over, for me. Re: Let It Snow-- New EnglandThis morning it was -20C with -39C wind chills. Same forecast as the North East but it will be a nor'easter for us. 1 - 2 feet of snow, high winds then bitterly cold. A second storm coming from Ontario is due to hit us on Sunday possibly doubling the expected snowfall. Now if the prognosticators are right, we could be in for some fun. Nothing like the storm of '92 where we got 5 feet in 23 hours and another 3-1/2 feet over the next two days. Took almost 2 weeks to get dug out. Snow banks at the head of my driveway were over 10 foot. Could almost touch the telephone lines. Good thing the power lines are another 10 feet up
Don, glad I was able brighten up your day a bit. I always try. In the winter me and me blankie stay very close to one another. ![]() Confusion breeds Discussion which breeds Knowledge which breeds Confidence which breeds Friendship

If it does not come down, then what? Too risky to approach.
