Bought a new 100 blade in 1973 for $175.00. Three times that would not buy it now.

And in 1969 my first "off the farm" job for extra money was working in the feed mill, mostly working with 100 lb burlap bags of feed, at $1.65 an hour, and when I got paid it seemed like a lot !

And I was making $1.35 an hour sweeping in the spinning room of a cotton mill. As a kid I helped load the truck or wagon going to the feed mill. Then had to carry in the sweet feed to the milking shed.

What year? I'd like to say the minimum wage was a bit less and I got $1.65, but of that I am not certain.

When we left the farm in 1949, my brother who was 6 years older than me, went to work in a veneer mill. Shortly after he went to work they raised the minimum wage from 40 cents to 75 cents and we all thought we were gonna be rich from then on.
