Red rims

Postby bzsz1942 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 6:02 pm

My 1952 cub has red rear rims. I have been disassembling, cleaning, re-gasketing and generally repairing any thing needing repair. During this process, I have seen no evidence of a repaint yet all other same year cubs I have seen have silver rims. What gives?

My guess would be that they were sandblasted or otherwise stripped before the red paint was applied.

I believe the original rims were galvanized.
