May I/ if you please! I am having a problem with my magneto on my 1948 Cub. Is it proper for me to discuss it here? Assuming, yes.... here goes. My magneto will fire from the magneto through the magneto wire to the distributor cap center tower and further to the center contact inside the cap. But it will not fire across the rotor points and out the towers, such as to the spark plug wires. What is wrong? I have replaced the distributor cap, distributor rotor, and wires. Would the condenser in the distributor section of the magneto be weak cause this problem? Thanks for an urgent reply.
I have really enjoyed reading each of the post on this subject.

Re: Magneto?
Did you align the timing marks on the rotor? If the mag generates a good spark from the coil tower, it is internally functioning as it should. From there, it just needs the cap & rotor to tell it where to go. You could have a cracked (shorted) cap but you've already replaced that, so I'm betting the rotor's out of time.

Re: Magneto?
well i dont know if this will work in a mag but my distributor was not getting a good ground at the points. some cleaning behind the adjustable side of the points and it was firing. (see i DID learn something at DSCF) but it probably is the rotor outta time been there done that
